Our Story

Phoenix Beverages Group has embraced sustainability as a core element of its strategy since its inception in 1963, starting with Mauritius Breweries and evolving through Phoenix Camp Minerals and the Mauritius Glass Gallery.
Since its founding in 1963, Phoenix Beverages Group (PBG) has embedded sustainability into its growth, evolving from Mauritius Breweries to a regional leader with operations in Mauritius, Réunion Island, and Seychelles, and exports to nine countries.

In 2021, it launched the PhoenixEarth Initiative to guide its sustainability efforts in line with global best practices. This initiative also connects stakeholders to drive positive change and reinforces PBG’s commitment to a sustainable future.

At PBG, sustainability is deeply embedded in our strategy, guided by the Triple Bottom Line: People, Planet, and Prosperity. We take a balanced approach to social, environmental, and financial performance, beginning with a risk-based management framework that considers social, natural, and financial capitals. As sustainability priorities evolved globally, we identified and aligned with five key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) most relevant to our business, integrating them into our operations to drive long-term, sustainable transformation.
Our approach connects the global vision of the SDGs with the practical structure of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. This alignment ensures our efforts are measurable, impactful, and transparent across all areas of our business. Through initiatives like the double materiality assessment conducted with the Embedding Project, we’ve embedded ESG principles across eight key business areas—reinforcing our commitment to a responsible, resilient, and future-ready organization.

Guiding Principles of Our Sustainability Goals

Our sustainability goals are guided by three core pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). Through the Phoenix Earth Initiative, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact, supporting communities, and upholding ethical governance across the Phoenix Beverages Group — including our operations in Mauritius, Réunion Island, and Seychelles Breweries Ltd.

As part of the Phoenix Earth Initiative, we integrate sustainability into every aspect of our business. Our eight material areas reflect the priorities within our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework and are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) most relevant to our operations.
