Our campaign's core objective is to accentuate our engagement to ensure that maximum PET bottle produced or sold are returned and recycled.
It represents our drive to lead with concrete actions and inspire the population to join us in our vision of proper recycling, guaranteeing that packaging does not end up where they are not meant to.
‘Yes, No Solutions’ a non-profit online platform that connects Mauritius’ various stakeholders and people to foster a plastic circular economy, is set to launch their latest initiative, dubbed "I am Recyclable – Boutey Retourne, Boutey Resikle*" to propel the culture of recycling among the population by encouraging them to engage in responsible disposal and recycling practices.
This campaign is scheduled for launch on November 4th at the Farmers Centre in Goodlands, this campaign underscores the pivotal role of selective sorting within Mauritian households, highlighting that a PET bottle can have several uses when recycled.
At the heart of this campaign are roadshows set across Mauritius, predominantly at CSU centres starting in Goodlands - Triolet on the 4th of November 2023 and Pamplemousses – Montagne Longue on the 05 of November 2023.
More than 500 000 tonnes of waste are produced in Mauritius each year, requiring an estimated MUR 1.5 billion to treat at the island’s only waste disposal site, Mare Chicose.
Yes No Solutions has an ongoing focus on minimising waste to landfill through our policy of “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle”, which aligns with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 13 (Climate Action) & 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The agenda encompasses:
- Educating on the importance of source-segregating plastic waste through interactive sessions
- The essence of recycling and circular economy
- Collection of PET bottles
- Educational games for all age groups
- Distribution of samples
- Cleanup around roadshow venues’ vicinity.

This initiative stands as tangible evidence of the synergy between public, private sectors, NGOs, and the public, aligning to fortify our present actions for a sustainable future, whilst championing recycling and the circular economy.
